In 2016, the partners of the Street to Home Movement were able to provide housing stability for over 60 households. These households included the highest-need individuals and families who have the most barriers to being able to obtain and maintain stable housing, including physical and mental disabilities, addictions, history of abuse and neglect, and circumstantial events that put them into the situation of homelessness. The Street to Home Movement helps by getting those in our community who have been homeless the longest off the streets and into housing with supports focused on recovery and community re-integration. We also work in the community to prevent homelessness among families and individuals most at risk of becoming homeless without the proper community support and guidance.
The South Brevard Sharing Center is now the lead agency of the Street to Home Movement! SBSC joined the movement in early 2016 by beginning an in-house Rapid Rehousing program, but since then SBSC has acquired the staff to also provide the supports for those requiring Permanent Supportive Housing. SBSC is proud to lead the boots-on-the-ground effort to end homelessness in South Brevard with a goal of providing stability and self-sufficiency to 60 more households in 2017!
